Dr. Miguel Montero-Baker is a board-certified vascular surgeon. He specializes in both vascular and endovascular surgery with a special emphasis on diabetic foot complications, limb preservation and independent living.
Dr. Montero-Baker earned his medical degree from the University of Costa Rica in San José, Costa Rica. There, he also completed a vascular surgery residency at the San Juan de Dios Hospital. Moreover, he rounded his surgical training with a three year fellowship at the Leipzig Heart Center focusing on catheter-based therapies and lower-limb ultrasound. Lastly, he undertook an integrated vascular surgery residency position at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Shortly after, he became associate chief of vascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and now has joined the Methodist team to lead the Division of Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Montero-Baker is co-founder of HENDOLAT, the largest Latin America-based digital education platform for Endovascular therapies. Moreover, his research interests include advanced endovascular limb saving interventions, the development of multidisciplinary teams that work to prevent major amputations and novel educational techniques at the global level.
